Export

You can export nearly all the data from your RiskRunner assessment into an Excel file. This includes hazard links with actions, barrier analysis, field values, definitions, and fields.

Export buttons are available in the hazards list, definitions list, and fields list. Additionally, there is a global export button in the Settings section of an assessment, which allows you to export the entire assessment.

Warning

Exported data can be fully re-imported into RiskRunner. However, keep in mind that field values for entities require the corresponding field to already exist in the assessment—or to be created from the data in the Fields sheet.

Note

Export is only available to users with the appropriate permissions.

Entities

This is the core data typically exported. It will appear in the Entities sheet. All hazards and their links are included.

Warning

Due to differences in how barrier analysis is handled, barrier analysis data cannot be fully re-imported into BowtieXP. The same applies to matrix field values.

Note

Filters will be active during export, allowing you to export only the hazards you need.

Definitions

These will be exported to a Definitions sheet.

Import your export in BowtieXP

Due to differences in the data models between RiskRunner and BowtieXP, a small adjustment is required when importing a Bowtie from RiskRunner into BowtieXP.

import to bowtie XP part 1

After importing your Excel file, you may notice an unrecognized element—this is the Top Event. The difference comes from how each application handles this component.

To complete the import process:

  1. Drag all threats and consequences to their parent hazard.

  2. Then, either convert the Top Event into a recognized BowtieXP entity or delete it.

In the example, the Top Event was converted into an action.

Once this is done, your Bowtie will be ready to use, just remember to manually re-enter the name of the Top Event.
